Prof. Ing. Filip Bureš, Ph.D., completed his postgraduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University of Pardubice in 2002 and 2005, respectively. During his doctoral studies he spent several months in the group of prof. P. Knochel (LMU, Munich) and conducted research in a postdoctoral fellowship program in the working group of prof. F. Diederich (ETH, Zurich). After returning to the University of Pardubice in 2010 he was appointed Associate Professor and in 2017 Professor in the field of Organic Chemistry.

Scientific interest

  • Organic synthesis
  • Organic conjugated systems and their modern applications
  • Organic electronics
  • Photoredox catalysis
  • Organometallics

Scientific activities

Prof. Bureš focuses his scientific research on conjugated organic molecules and the study of their fundamental physicochemical properties. Organic molecules are designed for further use in material sciences, especially organic electronics. Application areas of his research include nonlinear optics, batteries, solar cells, light-emitting diodes, photovoltaic cells, switches, sensors, etc. Another area of interest of prof. Bureš is a photoredox catalysis utilizing pure organic catalysts. Research in this area is primarily focused on the transformation of light radiation into the energy of chemical bonds. Last but not least, he studies volatile hybrid inorganic-organic substances and their use for deposition of layered materials.
