The faculty sees strengthening relations with primary schools as an important goal, and in doing so, aims to create a space for mutual cooperation and discussion on areas of common interest between the faculty and secondary schools, as well as their promotion. It also strives to create a high-quality portfolio for gifted pupils, to conduct a potential search for talented and gifted pupils and also to improve the quality of guidance in directing their choice of secondary school studies towards chemical and technical fields.
As a faculty, we participate in and organise many competitions and scientific events for pupils of primary schools, with regular participation by pupils interested in chemistry and technical fields. By participating, these pupils establish a close relationship with our faculty, which often results in long-term mutual cooperation.
COMPETITION
The national finals of the Search for the Best Young Chemist in the Czech Republic competition will be held in the place where the competition was first launched many years ago. In 2007, the Secondary School of Chemistry in Pardubice decided, in cooperation with Synthesia, to organise the first year of a chemistry competition which would genuinely appeal to students in Year 8 and Year 9. A competition which would develop their creative abilities and present chemistry as a science which is playful and fun, practical and poetic, a discipline which has a promising future ahead because it offers a wide range of study and work opportunities.
And it certainly did appeal to them. The competition was a resounding success and has since become an established annual tradition. And as the Search for the Best Young Chemist gained momentum nationwide, the time seemed right to introduce a national final. Now in its thirteenth year, the national final will be held on 12 June 2025 on the premises of the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the University of Pardubice. Forty-two of the very best chemistry students from all of the regions where regional rounds were held will compete for the honorary title of National Student Champion. Thanks to the support of the Association of Chemical Industry of the Czech Republic (promoter, organiser and general partner), the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the University of Pardubice (organiser and partner) as well as AGROFERT, a.s., Cefic – European Chemical Industry Council, ČEPRO, a.s., ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation, SILON s.r.o., SPOLCHEMIE – Spolek pro chemickou a hutní výrobu, akciová společnost, and SYNTHOS Kralupy a.s. (partners), all of the finalists can look forward to high-value prizes.
