In order to support the popularity of study programmes offered by the faculty, its representatives regularly visit the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies, Charles University in Mariánské Lázně, where one of the centres for the education of foreigners in the Czech language is located.

A few years ago, cooperation was established with the director of the centre Mgr. Petr Hála. Today, the partnership bears first fruit. A number of international students come to the Czech Republic for study. The basic precondition for successful university study is good knowledge of the Czech language. Centres established under the auspices of Charles University provide not only language training but also high-quality educational background in various fields including chemistry, biology, mathematics or physics. They also ensure accommodation and a family atmosphere throughout the course of the almost one-year study. The development of a helpful and supportive environment is essential for international students in their transition to a new environment. This friendly and helpful atmosphere is typical for the institute in Mariánské Lázně, which was at the end of January visited by Vice-Dean Mgr. Lucie Stříbrná, Ph.D. and Doc. Ing. David Veselý, Ph.D.

The main purpose of the visit was to show the students the possibilities of study in Pardubice. The representatives of FChT attended the semi-final exams during which they had the opportunity to assess the students’ knowledge of the Czech language and their interest in the study of chemistry or biology and in this way identify suitable candidates for study at FChT. Eleven successful students left the exam with the promise of a scholarship which will be paid to them upon enrolment in the 1st year of any bachelor’s, master’s or follow-up master’ degree at FChT.

We believe that like every year we will have many international applicants from the centre in Mariánské Lázně who have reached the B2 level of the Czech language during the certification exam. We also believe that they will enjoy the study in Pardubice and that their selected study programme will be a springboard for their future career.
