Doc. Ing. Tomáš Syrový, Ph.D. successfully completed his Ph.D. studies in the field of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pardubice in 2007. He subsequently joined the Department of Graphic Arts and Photophysics, where he began to focus on materials research, in particular material printing and printed electronics. He has been involved in several applied research projects in the given field with a number of major national and international research and industrial organisations. In 2009, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Department of Graphic Arts and Photophysics and since 2022, he has acted as Head of this Department at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice. In 2018, he was appointed Associate Professor in the field of Surface Engineering. In 2019, he was appointed to the board of the international organisation IARIGAI, which brings together research organisations in the field of graphic arts all over the world.
Scientific interests
- 2D and 3D material printing
- Large-format printed electronics
- Printed batteries/accumulators

Scientific activity
Associate Professor Syrový has been focusing on the field of material printing and coating for several years now. He is engaged in the issue of material printing and printed electronics within the framework of a number of scientific and industrial projects covering topics ranging from simple functional layers (antistatic, conductive, semiconductive and luminescent, etc.) all the way through to more complex multilayer structures such as sensors and displays (LEC, OLED and electrochromic), and for the last 8 years, he has also been performing research into Li-ion and Na-ion batteries. Apart from research and development of technological production processes for various printed 2D and 3D functional structures, he specialises in development of new functional inks which are prepared from innovative materials obtained through collaboration with leading national and international teams focused on synthesis of new types of materials. Apart from experience with research on a laboratory level, Associate Professor Syrový also has many years of experience in transferring a number of technological processes to an industrial level and their successful industrialisation.
