Prof. Ing. Roman Bulánek, Ph.D. graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice in 1999 under the supervision of prof. J. Tichý and Ing. B. Wichterlová, DrSc. He habilitated in 2014 and in 2015, he was appointed Professor of Physical Chemistry. He works at the Department of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice, where he founded the heterogeneous catalysis research group and began to develop research on zeolitic materials and later on adsorption phenomena on structured porous materials.
Scientific interest
- Thermodynamics of adsorption phenomena in porous materials
- Coordination and placement of extra-lattice cations in high-silica zeolites
- Heterogeneously catalysed reactions of gaseous reactants
- Acido-basic properties of zeolite materials
- Study of the properties of porous coordination polymers
Scientific activities
Prof. Bulánek works in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and adsorption phenomena in porous materials. He is currently devoting his efforts to study of adsorption phenomena in molecular networks, especially the thermodynamics of adsorption in weakly interacting systems, the coordination and positioning of extra-framework cations in high-silicate zeolites and their adsorptive separation properties. He is also studying the use of nanoporous inorganic materials with controlled porosity as solid catalysts in the conversion of alkanes to alkenes by dehydrogenation or oxidative dehydrogenation. Within the framework of his research, he focuses on targeted preparation of micro and mesoporous materials, their modification and comprehensive characterisation of their physicochemical properties.
