Description:
The aim of the project is the preparation of new phosphate and borophosphate glasses and glass-ceramics modified by addition of metal oxides bringing better glass forming ability, chemical durability, thermal stability and other properties. Important part will be the investigation of the glass structure. The knowledge of glass structure will be applied for the study of relations composition-structure-properties. The modification of the parent glasses of univalent and divalent metal oxides will be realized by the additions of higher-valent oxides (WO3, MoO3, Nb2O5, TiO2). In the studied systems the glass forming ability and basics properties of glasses will be determined. Furthermore thermal behaviour and crystallization process will be studied, including study of the obtained crystallization products. The evaluation of some Na2O, Li2O and Ag2O containing glasses will be completed with the study of their electrical properties. The goal of Nb2O5 additions will be the preparation of glasses with the high index of refraction for possible applications in optics and optoelectronics.
