Analysis of stool samples belongs to procedures routinely performed in microbiological laboratory. So far, students of above mentioned study programmes have been introduced to stool examination techniques only theoretically in form of presentation. Our goal is therefore to implement these techniques also to laboratory training. Third grade students will try cultivation of intestinal pathogens on chromogenic and selective diagnostic media in practice. Fourth grade students will be taught how to process stool sample not only by means of cultivation but also microscopically. Microscopic examination of stool will help to extend students? knowledge of intestinal parasites. Furthermore they will try Helicobacter pylori screening using stool antigen immunoassay.
