Molecular materials: towards breaking Shockley-Queisser limit

Provider: Grantová agentura ČR
Programme: Standardní projekty
Implementation period: 01.03.19 - 31.12.21
Workplace: Fakulta chemicko-technologická - Oddělení technologie organických látek
Investigator: Imramovský Aleš
Description:
The scientific goal of the project is to significantly broaden materials basis that exhibit singlet fission and as such can be used in solar cells breaking the Shockley-Queisser limit. We will focus on development of new chromophores that are air-stable, highly absorptive, solution processable and potentially inexpensive and thus can provide suitable chromophore for harvesting high-energy photons for solar cells exceeding efficiencies set by the limit for singlethreshold device. The project will focus on the development of new dyes and pigments via careful tuning the chromophore energetics and intermolecular electron coupling. It will be possible to formulate strategies for efficient singlet fission materials based on the results obtained from the development and characterization of the new proposed materials.
