Antiviral and antimicrobial colorants

Provider: Technologická agentura České republiky
Programme: Program aplikovaného výzkumu, experimentálního vývoje a inovací GAMA 2
Implementation period: 01.08.20 - 31.12.20
Workplace: Fakulta chemicko-technologická - Odd. synt. polymerů,vláken a text.chemie
Investigator: Bayerová Petra
Team member: Černý Michal | Hofmanová Drahomíra | Krejčová Anna | Brožková Iveta | Šimková Ivana | Kopicová Dagmar
Description:
The project will focus on finding optimal technologies and preparing new matrix systems based on polymers, organic dyes and pigments (generally colorants), which are on the market and which contain a copper cation in their molecule, as well as a sulfone or carboxyl group. These colorants will be dyed with polymeric materials (natural and synthetic) and a compound containing a quaternary nitrogen and with some advantage (lipophilicity) also a long (fatty) aliphatic chain will be attached to the sulfone or carboxyl group. These ammonium compounds will be both colorless and so-called basic dyes with both localized and delocalized positive charges will be used. These matrices (colored materials) will acquire new parameters compared to the original, classical ones, eg they will be classically tested for color fastness and mainly tests for antimicrobial efficacy and in the form of "transferred research" for antiviral efficacy with special focus on Covid-19.
