Description:
The proposed project addresses fundamental development of new materials, their processing using modern deposition techniques and fabrication of thermoelectric modules for cooling or heat to electricity conversion. THERMOS aims to develop drastically enhanced thermoelectric modules based Zintl-phase materials and free of the element tellurium, which will potentially exhibit a significantly enhanced conversion efficiency from heat to electricity (8-9%) in the temperature range from room temperature up to 550 K. The international consortium includes top scientific institutes from Germany (leader of consorcium IFW Dresden - Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research), Spain and Denmark.
