Integration of microalgae cultivation within the complex utilization of output streams from biogas stations in order to optimize and economize their operation in accordance with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions and circular economy goals.

Provider: Technologická agentura České republiky
Programme: THÉTA 2 - 1. veřejná soutěž
Implementation period: 01.07.24 - 31.12.29
Workplace: Fakulta chemicko-technologická - Oddělení chemického inženýrství
Investigator: Palarčík Jiří
Description:
The main goals of the project are: 1. Utilize CO2, which comes from both biogas and flue gas from cogeneration, as a carbon source for growing microalgae (or other alternative biomass), 2. Find a suitable treatment of a liquid nutrient medium based on digestate from different types of biogas stations for the cultivation of selected types of microalgae or duckweed, 3. To screen the most suitable type of freshwater microalgae for their cultivation on digestate-based nutrient medium with the aim of ensuring high biomass yield, 4. Obtain a technological procedure for growing microalgae at various types of biogas stations in low-cost photoreactors, 5 To develop the most suitable method of undemanding separation of microalgae biomass, 6. Find options for subsequent processing of microalgae.
