Operation induced re-arrangement of transition metal sulfides surface(s) for in-situ functionality improvement

Provider: Grantová agentura ČR
Programme: Standardní projekty
Implementation period: 01.01.26 - 31.12.28
Workplace: Fakulta chemicko-technologická - Katedra polygrafie a fotofyziky
Investigator: Němec Petr
Description:
The project focus is to explore and harness the phenomenon of surface self-adaptation in quasi two-dimensional materials (thin films and their heterostructures) for advanced energy conversion and storage applications. Focussing on a streamlined selection of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) such as MoS, Co-doped MoS, and Ni-doped MoS (as well as their heterostructures with other TMDCs), we propose a systematic study of their structural, chemical, and morphological transformations in operation during the materials` electrochemical utilisation. The goal is to optimize self-adaptive behaviour that enhances performance in specific applications, such as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and in supercapacitors. Using various experimental techniques combined with in-operando measurements, the project will deliver significant advances in material functionality, stability, and applicability.
