Description:
The aim of the project, where the main investigator of the project is the company Chemotex Děčín a.s. and the co-investigator of the project is the University of Pardubice, is to introduce into production new, highly biodegradable sequestrants (chelating agents) for their use in medicine, cosmetics, as well as in the defense, textile, engineering and consumer chemical industries. This project follows on from a long-term cooperation between the company Chemotex Děčín a.s. and the University of Pardubice based on contractual research agreements, a license agreement and, at the University of Pardubice, documented by a number of theses - bachelor's, diploma and dissertation theses. These sequestrants are based on natural raw materials - L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic acid, itaconic acid and glycine, which will be chemically modified. By varying the conditions of chemical modifications, effective sequestrants are obtained, which, depending on the neutralization of the carboxyl group, will either not show antimicrobial activity or, on the contrary, will have significant antimicrobial activity. The project will result in a set of functional samples and a verified technology. The project is planned for three years and will include laboratory synthesis of the designed sequestrant molecules, their analysis to confirm the constitution (elementary analysis, mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance and spectroscopic methods - Raman, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy), measurement of chelating properties, biodegradability, antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity. The effect on the protection of dyed hair and the enhancement of the effect of antimicrobial systems due to the disruption of the cell membrane of gram-negative pathogens in cosmetic products, mainly shampoos and emulsions, will also be assessed. Subsequently, a "semi-operational" preparation of functional samples will be carried out, and finally operational preparation in the operation of the company Chemotex Děčín a.s. of the verified technology.
