eng	Colour possibilities of pigments CuAl2-xLnxO4	Our attention was focused on preparation of mixed metal oxides pigments doped by ions of lanthanides with general formula CuAl2-xLnxO4, where x = 0 to 2 and Ln = Eu, Sm, Nd, Y, La, Tm. These pigments were synthesized by solid state reaction and heated at temperatures 900 °C, 1000 °C and 1100 °C. The resultant colour impression of the pigments is related to ionic radii of lanthanides cations. Ions of lanthanides Ln3+ with ionic radii bigger than 0.092 nm (Sm, Nd, Eu and La) cause the formation of black color pigments, whereas the formation of turquoise pigments is conditioned by size of ionic radii less than 0.092 nm (Y, Tm).	lanthanides;turquoise pigments;black pigments
