eng	Advanced Silicate Binders.	All the synthetic silica and silicates are made form chemical intermediates, such as soda ash, alkali silicates, or tetrachloride. The reactions take place either in an aqueous medium, for example for the production of precipitated silicas and silicates, or in the gasseous phase at high temperatures, as in the production of funed silica form silicon tetrachloride. Most of the aqueous production routes start form soduim silicate solution (water glass). The production of alkali silicates involves either a fusin route to make molten silicate glasses, or strong alkali solutions acting on siliceous raw materials at lower temperatures.	silica; silicates; silicon tetrachloride
