eng Detection of Aflatoxinogenic Fungi Using PCR Method Aflatoxins are produced as secondary metabolites by A. flavus, A. parasiticus, A. nomius and A. tamarii. The aflatoxin biosynthetic pathway involves several enzymatic steps and genes (apa-2, ver-1) that appear to be regulated by the aflR gene in these fungi. The aim of this work was the optimization of the polymerase chain reaction applied to two genes encoding the biosynthesis of aflatoxins (apa-2 a ver-1, aflR), the verification of the reaction specific character, and the use of the method to speed up the confirmation of the presence of aflatoxigenic fungi isolated from food and feed. aflatoxins, Aspergillus, PCR
