eng Ring-substituted Vanadocene(IV) Compounds Vanadocene(IV) complexes have raised great interests due to their biological activity. The aim of this study is to improve their cytostatic properties through substitution in cyclopentadienyl rings. The methoxy substituted vanadocenes ((C5H4R)2VCl2 (7: R = 2-CH2C6H4OMe, 8: R = 4-CH2C6H4OMe, 9: R = CH2CH2OMe) were prepared according to protocol that was previously used for the preparation of ansa-vanadocene compounds. These compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods. The structures of 7 and 9 were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. A low solubility of the compounds 7-9 in the therapeutic media led us to the exchange of the chlorides with more polar ligands. The amino acid complexes 10-12 were prepared according to the previously described procedure. They show sufficient solubility in the media suitable for the biological applications. Their cytostatic activity is currently under investigation. metallocene
