eng Effect of Copolymer Composition of Film-Formation and Flow Properties of Functionalized Latex Binders Acrylic and styrene acrylic latex biders comprising fuctional monomers as they are acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, methacrylamide and hydroxyethyl methacrylate in different concentration levels were synthesized. It was shown that the extent of particle swelling and hydroplysticization of alkali-swellable particles was affected by the "hard" comonomer polarity. The effect of dissociated carboxylic groups on increase in latex viscosity and in lowering its minimum film forming temperature was mach more promounced in the case of methyl methacrylate comonomer. Thickening fo latices with HEUR associative thickeners was considerabily affected by hydrophobicity of the particle, thickening with HASE thickener depends predominatly on the excluded volume of swollen thickener particles and the influence of the hydrophobic styrene content was negligble.
