cze Structure and Reactivity of C,N-chelated Organotin(IV) Fluorides Structure and reactivity of C,N-chelated organotin(IV) fluorides have been studied both in solutions and the solid state in our department.1,2 Triorganotin(IV) fluorides reveal the monomeric structure in solution as well as in the solid state with pentacoordinated tin atom. The intramolecular coordination of nitrogen atom to the tin atom leads to activation of Sn-F bond. This activation makes possible to use these compounds as very effective and mild fluorinating agent. On the other hand diorganotin(IV) fluorides have oligomeric structure with hexacoordinated tin atoms and both terminal and bridging fluorine atoms. Reactivity of these compounds with praseodymium(III) triflate, some organochlorosilanes and inorganic halides will be discussed.
