cze Synthesis and Structure of Half-sandwich Ti(IV) Complexes Bearing Halosilyl Substituents on the Cyclopentadienyl Ring Half-sandwich complexes of the type Cp'TiCl3 (Cp' = substituted or unsubstituted cyclopentadienyl ring) are intensively investigated as efficient olefin polymerisation catalysts. Catalytic properties of these complexes can be easily modified by the substitution on the cyclopentadienyl ring [1]. We have prepared a series of metallocene compounds of the general formula [SiMe(3-x)Yx]CpTiCl3 (x = 0, 1, 2, 3; Y = F, Cl). These complexes were studied by the means of IR, Raman, multinuclear NMR and electronic spectroscopies, and determining of catalytic activity toward styrene polymerisation was also performed. Based on the obtained data, the influence of halogenosilyl substituents on the electronic environment at the titanium atom was established.
