eng Voltammetric monitoring of folic acid, leucovorin and methotrexate using silver solid amalgam electrode Voltammetric behavior of folic acid, its reduced metabolite (leucovorin) and antidote (methotrexate) has been investigated in this paper. FA and especially its enzymatically reduced forms – tetrahydrofolates attend many important processes in organism like formation and division of cells. Contrary, MTX blocks the enzyme which is necessary for FA transformation to reduced forms and causes avoiding of cells division and damaging of cells. This mechanism is used in treatment of various types of cancer or psoriasis. FA, LV and MTX as well can be electrochemically reduced. The electrochemical reduction was observed using mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode (m-AgSAE). It was found that m-AgSAE in connection with differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) is sensitive tool for determination of mentioned substances. m-AgSAE in connection with DPV with optimized parameters was also successfully applied for analysis or practical samples.
