eng Indan-1,3-dione as an acceptor part of organic D-p-A system The design of nonlinear optical (NLO) molecules has become a focus of current research in view of their potential applications in various photonic technologies. Materials with NLO activity found use as electro-optic switching elements for telecommunication and optical information processing. A typical organic push-pull chromophore with second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties consists of an electron donor and an electron acceptor interacting through a p-conjugated spacer. Indan-1,3-dione has been chosen as a main acceptor moiety of the proposed organic D-p-A systems (Scheme 1). This strong acceptor system was further modified by electron donors such as N,N dimethylamino group either on C2 or the fused benzene ring. The donor groups were linked to the benzene ring through the p-linkers of various shapes and lengths [1] in order to finely tune the NLO properties. indan-1,3-dion; chromofor; syntéza
