eng Benzene-1,2-dicarbonitrile derived X-shaped chromophores Due to their unique properties, organic push-pull low-molecular systems feat. intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) constitute very important class of organic materials. Recently, we have investigated pyrazine based X-shaped D-p-A chromophores 1 (Fig. 1).[1] In this contribution, we will focus on their structural analogs based on benzene-1,2-dicarbonitrile 2. In contrast to pyrazine chromophores 1, benzene-derived chromophores 2 showed distinct absorption and emission properties. These compounds with systematically enlarged p-linker were further investigated by X-ray analysis, electrochemistry, UV/Vis spectroscopy and calculations. Structure-property relationships will be discussed. Benzene-1,2-dicarbonitrile; X-shaped chromophores; structure-property relationships
