eng New Magnetic Nanoparticles for Diagnostic and Therapy in Oncology Magnetic nanoparticles for medical applications consist of cores, usually of magnetic oxides embedded in a shell. Recently we have developed a new type of the material, based on particles of lanthanum manganese perovskite in the system La1-xSrxMnO3, magnetic properties suitably tailored for a given applications, namely magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic fluid hyperthermia. An attention was paid on the quality of the coating. The silica shell provides stability of the suspension and prevents toxic effect of the core material while separating it entirely from the biological system.
