eng Essential Oils Influence upon Chemical Aging Process of Lignocellulosic Materials Dependence of mechanical, optical properties and pH of water extract of lignocellulosic materials as paper etc. upon relative air humidity during its aging is not simple function strongly influenced by presence of essential oils. Explanation of this behaviour is based upon condensation of vapour of water in porose structures of lignocellulosic materials in dependence upon porose structure and surface-molecular properties of the pore interface and presence of other compounds. The process is connected with hydrolysis due to humidification of porose materials during their storage at different conditions particularly at higher relative air humidity. Value of water extract pH of lignocellulosic materials indicates usually a deep chemical change in their structures and composition observable often during aging. Especially, the sub micro-pores are important because predominantly pH of condensed water in these pores is strongly influenced by presence and character of surface acidity groups. Additionally, the presence of essential oils vapour distinctly decreased amount of condensed water. essential oils; aging process; lignocellulosic materials
