Our group has been reported the imidazole-based chromophores, in the thirty four chromophores featuring 4,5-dicyanoimidazole as an acceptor moiety, a systematically enlarged π-conjugated spacer and methoxy and N,N-dimethylamino groups as donors. From this extended research the 3,4-dinitrothiophene derived chromophores were synthesized from 2,5-dibromo-3,4-dinitrothiophene with enlarged and varied π-linkers by Suzuki-Miyaura and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions and characterized by NMR, MALDI, FTIR, GCMS spectroscopic techniques and single crystal X-ray studies. 3,4-dinitrothiophene, Suzuki-Miyaura, Sonogashira, cross-coupling, chromophore
