Všechny kolony ukázaly dvojí retenční mechanismus, HILIC s vysoce ekologickou, zatímco RP ve vodné mobilní fázi. Strukturální účinky fenolických sloučenin a derivátů kyseliny ftalové byly zkoumány pomocí LFER modelu v několika koncentracích mobilní fáze. Separační selektivita byla zkoumána výpočtem separačních faktorů, α, které označují vztah retenčních faktorů. Kolony s jednoduše vázanými glycerolovými skupinami, YMC-Triart Diol HILIC a LiChrospher Diol vykazovaly vyšší retenci, kvůli silnějším polárním interakcím rozpuštěných látek se stacionární fází, a lepší selektivitu než Luna HILIC s síťované oxyethylenových-hydroxy skupin. eng HILIC: Comparison of the separartion properties of diol based columns The retention of phenolic acids, flavonoids and derivatives of phthalic acid were measured on three different diol based stationary phases under HILIC and RP conditions. All columns showed dual retention mechanism, HILIC at high-organic while RP in high-aqueous mobile phase. Different range of the composition of the mobile phase, where HILIC conditions predominates was observed on each column. The structural effects of phenolic compounds and derivatives of phthalic acid on the retention were investigated using Abraham´s linear solvation energy relationship model at several concentrations of the mobile phase.The retention of phenolic acids in the HILIC mode is the most affected by the parameter v, which characterizes contribution of the size of the molecule to the retention. The parameter is negative probably because of interactions of solutes with the mobile phase. The positive b shows that the retention in the HILIC mode is mostly controlled by proton-donor interactions. The parameter s is relevant only for the phenolic acids and shows slight contribution of dipole-dipole interactions to the retention. Large positive v in the RP mode signifies that the retention is controlled by non-polar dispersion interactions. The separation selectivity was investigated by calculating the separation factors, α, which signify the relation of the retention factors of each compound to the retention of the chosen solute, which has the highest or lowest retention, depending on the retention mechanism. Columns with simply bonded glycerol groups, YMC-Triart Diol HILIC and LiChrospher Diol showed higher retention, due to stronger polar interactions of solutes with stationary phase, and better selectivity than Luna HILIC with crosslinked oxyethylene-hydroxy groups.
