A new method has been proposed for determination of TBHQ in mineral oil and biodiesel when using linear sweep voltammetry in combination with a gold disc electrode. Samples of biodiesel were analyzed direct in supporting electrolyte (isopropanol containing 0.1 mol/l sulphuric acid) without any special sample treatment or separation. Samples of mineral oils had to be extracted with 96% ethanol. The electroanalytical method developed has enabled the determination of TBHQ in real biodiesel samples and spiked mineral oil samples with satisfactory results and prospects for practical analysis.
