cze Synthesis of Polyethylene Terephtalate and Polycarbonate Using Bioacceptable Catalysts A series of some C,N-chelated diorganotin(IV) species (e. g. (LCN)2Sn(OCH2CH2O), LCNBuSn(OCH2CH2O), (LCN)2Sn(1,2-O2-3,5-t-Bu2C6H2), and LCNBuSn(1,2-O2-3,5-t-Bu2C6H2)) was prepared in the term of this work.1,2 One of them, LCNBuSn(OCH2CH2O) , is an original compound which has not been described in the literature yet. Alternative methods of preparation of known species were studied in order to improve the yield of all syntheses. All prepared organotin(IV) compounds were characterized by elementar analysis and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Moreover, the molecular structure of novel LCNBuSn(OCH2CH2O) was determined by XRD techniques. Catalytic activity studies of these species for the synthesis of polyethylene terephtalate (PET) from dimethyl terephtalate and ethylene glycol were carried out. Similarly, the synthesis of polycarbonate from bisphenol A and dimethyl carbonate was catalyzed by these species, too. All synthetic aspects as well as characterization of prepared polymers will be discussed in detail.
