eng Palladium and Rhodium Complexes of Funcionalized Triazole Based NHC – Structure, Reactivity For almost 30 years, since the first pioneering works of Öfele and Wanzlick were published, N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) were considered as chemical curiosities. But the real breakthrough which lead to a rapid development in this area was the synthesis of stable free carbene by Arduengo in 1991. Since that time NHC have become one of the most studied compounds of contemporary chemistry. This was mainly due to their excellent bonding properties which are comparable or even better than the well established phosphines and cyclopentadienyls. Besides that, NHCs and their complexes with various metals were found to be excellent catalysts in various systems. The aim of the presented work was to prepare a set of various 1,2,4-triazole-based NHC ligands, among which one has an extra donating functional group, as well as their metal complexes. Rhodium complexes were synthesized in order to probe the bonding mode versatility of the amino group substituted NHC ligand (monodentate or bidentate) while Palladium complexes (mono- or biscarbene type) with three different NHC ligands were tested as catalysts in Suzuki coupling reactions.
