eng The difference in the catalytic behaviour of Mg-Al mixed oxides in transesterification and aldol condensation reactions The aim of work is to evaluate the catalytic behaviour of Mg-Al mixed oxides in the transesterification of rapeseed oil and in the aldol condensation of furfural focusing on the effect of their basicity. Mg-Al mixed oxides were synthesized by calcination of Mg Al hydrotalcite-like precursors at 450 °C. The catalysts were characterized with respect to their chemical composition (XRF), structure (XRD) and basicity (temperature programmed desorption of CO2 combined with a mass spectrometer; TPD-CO2). Mg/Al mixed oxides; catalyst; transesterification; aldol condensation
