eng Crystallography of Cr3+ in NASICON Structure This contribution is devoted to crystallographic aspects of two type of Cr3+ NASICONS, their thermal stability and characterisation as an inorganic pigment. The first type represents the most typical case where Cr3+ occupies the structure-forming M position with octahedral symmetry; the corresponding compounds can be represented as solid solutions in M3(I)Cr2P3O12 - M(I)M2(IV)P3O12 or M1.5(II)Cr2P3O12- M0.5(II)M4(IV)P3O12 systems. The second type represents very untypical case where Cr3+ occupies interstitial site A with tetrahedral symmetry; the corresponding compound, Cr1/3Zr2P3O12, was obtained by our research group for the first time and it represent the first example of phosphate compound with Cr3+ is in tetrahedral position.
