eng Impact of anion type on effectivity of iron-arene photoinitiator For initiation of cationic photopolymerization onion salts are currently commonly used. Similar ability to initiate the cationic polymerisation has been described also in the case of organometallic compounds, but their commercial application is minimal. Both onion and organometallic salts usually contain anions of low nucleophilicity (SbF6–, AsF6–, PF6–, BF4–). This work is focused on the effectiveness of the modified organometallic photoinitiator Iron(1+), (5-2,4-cyclopentadien-1-yl)(6)-(1-methylethyl)benzene containing organic anion based on sulfonic acid – dodecylbenzenesulfonate. Prepared compound was tested as initiator of photopolymerization of epoxy monomers. Effectiveness of prepared initiator was compared with the commercially available initiator Irgacure 261. Photolytic decay of initiators after UV absorption was monitored by UV-VIS spectroscopy. The degree of conversion of monomers was evaluated based on results obtained by FTIR spectroscopy. photoinitiator; cationic polymerization; FTIR
