eng Investigation of Temperature Dependence of Adsorption of Water from Aqueous Acetonitrile on Silica Based Stationary Phases The Cogent Silica-C and Cogent Phenyl Hydride colums have a silicon hydride surface (silica hydride) with less than 2% free silanol group, therefore they do not have strong association with water and other solvents and will not have the expected hydration shell of ohter silica based columns. Excess adsorption of water from aqueous acetonitrile mobile phase in different temperatures was investigated on mentioned stationary phases using the frontal analysis method and coulometric Karl-Fischer titration. The adsorption behaviors of water on the mentioned stationary phases were modeled by Langmuir isoterm. The preferentially adsorbed water was expressed in terms of hypotetical monolecular water layer equivalent in the inner pores. The uptake of water slightly depends on the teperature. Less than one monomolecular water layer equivalents was adsorbed on both stationary phases at every temperature. Phenyl Hexyl stationary phase shows decreased uptake un comparison to Silica-C stationary phase Temperature; stationary phases; water layer
