eng Analysis of the role of Ce species as promoter on structure and catalytic properties of Ni-Ce/Al2O3 catalysts in oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane and dry reforming of methane The attention has been focused on Ni/Al2O3 , Ce/Al2O3, Ni-Ce/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by two-step impregnation where the nickel precursor was impregnated on the calcined Ce/Al2O3 material (Ni/Ce/Al2O3) or cerium was impregnated on the calcined Ni/Al2O3 material (Ce/Ni/Al2O3) or both species were co-impregnated together (Ni-Ce/Al2O3). The strength of interaction between Ni-species and Al2O3 support increase in order: Ni/Ce/Al2O3 < Ni-Ce/Al2O3 < Ni/Al2O3 < Ce/Ni/Al2O3, which means that Ni/Ce/Al2O3 catalyst contain the highest relative population of Ni2+-species in octahedral coordination and Ce/Ni/Al2O3 catalyst contains the highest relative population of Ni2+-species in tetrahedral coordination. Catalytic results in ODH showed that Ce/Al2O3 is little active and non-selective catalyst. On the other hand, Ce as a promoter increased the activity (given as a value of ethane conversion). The highest value of ethene productivity was achieved for Ni/Ce/Al2O3 (0.64 gC2=.gcat 1.h-1). catalysis; Ni-Ce; Al2O3; dehydrogenation; methane
