eng Pyrazinedicarbonitrile: Newcomer to photoredox catalysis 5,6-Disubstituted pyrazine-2,3-dicarbonitrile derivatives, especially those bearing 5 methoxythiophen-2-yl substituents were recently developed as very efficient visible light induced photoredox catalysts. In the first part of the lecture, synthetic pathways leading to pyrazine derivatives and their fundamental physico-chemical and photoredox properties will be discussed. Catalytic performance of this class of heterocyclic push-pull molecules will be demonstrated in cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC), chemodivergent CDC reaction utilizing itaconimide, indole oxidations towards isatin or formylformanilides and also enantioselective C-H olefinations.
