We have been involved in the investigation of low-valent Group 15 compounds, especially monomeric pnictinidenes, for quite a long time. We have utilized N,C,N-pincer type ligands for their stabilization and we have also demonstrated that they may be used as ligands for a variety of transition metal compounds. Very recently, we have focused on the reactivity of these and related systems with unsaturated systems. Similarly, we have recently reported synthesis and preliminary reactivity of boroguanidinato-stabilized germylene. Nowadays, we are targeting the reactivity of the germylene with various alkynes giving, besides expected cyclodigermabutenes, interesting heterocyclic compounds.
