eng Relationship Between the Crystal Lattice Free Volume and Detonation Parameters of Nitramines More detailed analysis of a mutual dependence of detonation velocity, D, and volume heat of explosion, Q, on the one hand, on the crystal lattice free volume, ΔV, for the 21 nitramines, on the other, shows that their courses are relatively tight but they are not unequivocal. Partial linear relationships for the D values and semilogarithmic ones for the Q values mostly show increase of both these characteristics with increasing of the ΔV values, but here also some opposite trends exist. A similar situation is in semilogarithmic relationship between the crystal density, r (important characteristics for detonation and performance), and the ΔV values of the nitramines studied; here the studied substances are as if divided into group, derived from dimethyl nitramine and group derived from ε-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW). All the analyzed dependences confirm that in the non-ionic nitramines a maximal density and detonation parameters are limited by values which are peculiar to ε-HNIW. crystal density; detonation; free volume; nitramines; performance
