eng Hexaamino-Cyclo-Triphosphazene as Alternative Crosslinking Agent and Flame retardant in Latex Coatings This study is focused on properties of one-component coating systems prepared by the technique of semi-continuous emulsion polymerization. Core–shell particles were prepared using butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid and glycidyl methacrylateas as main monomers. Hexaamino-cyclo-triphosphazene is a water soluble substance and could be used as a comonomer in the mixture of monomers or could be add as a low-molecular crosslinking agent in final latex. In both cases, hexaamino-cyclotriphosphazene is covalently linked to glycidyl functional groups. The presence of hexaamino-cyclo-triphosphazene does not affect latex storage stability but positively affects mechanical and optical properties and chemical resistance of resulting transparent coatings. It was shown that this phosphazene derivative functioned as a hardener and as a flame retardant in latex coatings during the material combustion. Testing of flammability was carried out using a dual cone calorimeter. emulsion polymerization; phosphazene; crosslinking; flame retardant; coating
