eng INHIBITION OF PREMATURE POLYMERIZATION OF CATIONICALLY CURABLE SYSTEMS BY TRIETHANOLAMINE This work concerns the inhibition of early polymerization of cationically polymerizable systems. Tested formulations contain 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexane carboxylate as a reactive monomer, triethanolamine as a stabilizer, and a photoinitiator. Three types of initiators were used: sulphonium salt (tris{4-[(4-acetylphenyl)sulfanyl]phenyl}sulfonium hexafluorophosphate), iodonium salt (iodonium (4-methyl-phenyl) [4-(2-ethylpropyl) phenyl] hexafluoro-phosphate)) and iron-arene salt (η5-2,4-cyclopentadien-1-yl) [(1,2,3,4,5,6-η)- (1-methylethyl)benzene]-iron hexafluorophosphate). Prepared formulations were periodically exposed at an increased temperature (60 °C). The long-term stability was tested by viscosity measurement. Viscosity change reflects changes in the distribution of molecular weights in the system or structural changes caused by premature polymerization. The flow behaviour was measured using rheometer Haake RotoVisco 1. The reactivity of the mixtures was tested by FTIR spectroscopy using Nicolet Avatar 320. cationic polymerization; inhibition; premature polym erization
