eng	Preparation of high performance perylene colorants	New functional dyes and pigments based on perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxlylic acid diimides (PDIs) were prepared in this work. The desired colorants in high yield were prepared by the condensation reaction of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride with aromatic or aliphatic amine (Ar-NH2, R-NH2) in water as the reaction medium. The reaction was done in pressure reactor (autoclave), where the reaction temperature was usually between 150 – 180 oC. The formed compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis, luminescence and mass spectroscopy, and other techniques as XRD, EDS and EMS.
