eng Use of SNOOPy ligand in coordination chemistry of main group elements The utilization of multi-donor and hybrid ligands based on the involvement of different donor atoms/groups - e.g. N, O, P, S,.../ donor groups with various types of basicity, after first reports in early eighties occurred more significantly during last two decades.1 Such a ligand can accommodate two or more different metals for cooperative reactivity usable in catalytic processes or as a single-source precursor of novel materials. It is postulated, this type of ligands should have variable bonding modes, having both neutral and anionic, as well as redox-active sites and variable steric properties. Last but not least, these ligands should easily to be made and handled. For such purposes we prepared the doubly deprotonable bis-amine2, derivative of ethylenediamine, which is able to act as a double chelating agent, with adjacent P=S and P-O functions/donors (Figure 1). A picturesque reactivity patterns based on the fact the ligand could offer its skeleton for a plethora of addition reactions, P-O bond splitting, etc. is expected. In this respect we have prepared various main group metal complexes where the SNOOPy ligand can snoop the coordination ability and reactivity of the metal center and be potentially used in catalytic applications.
