eng Zn-Al mixed oxide active in aldol condensation of furfural with acetone This work deals with the description of the formation of Zn-Al mixed oxides prepared by using different preparation methods of Zn-Al hydrotalcites and their subsequent thermal treatment. Zn-Al hydrotalcites were prepared by co-precipitation of aluminum and zinc nitrate by sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide or hydrolysing urea. The attention was focused mainly on differences in the structure of Zn-Al hydrotalcites, which showed the presence of zinc oxide phase in addition to the desired hydrotalcite phase, which reflected the different methods of preparation. There were also studied the variances in the structure and properties of the resulting mixed oxide, which was prepared by thermal treatment of the respective hydrotalcite at 400 ° C. The calcination temperature was optimised based on in-situ X-ray diffraction analysis, in-situ UV-Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Furthermore, the study focused on the role of the acid-base properties of Zn-Al mixed oxides, which were determined by the temperatureprogrammed desorption of carbon dioxide or ammonia. mixed oxide; Zn-Al;hydrotalcite; furfural; aldol condensation
