eng Linear and Quadrupolar Pyrimidine Push-Pull Derivatives Pyrimidine has unique properties such as high aromaticity, strong electron-acceptor character, basicity and the ability to coordinate metal ions. This makes it a very important building block for the construction of -conjugated organic compounds, which are used in organoelectronics, nonlinear optics or pH sensors. For instance, pyrimidine push-pull derivatives were applied as markers in bioimaging. Based on these perspective applications, three target chromophores were designed and prepared. They feature central pyrimidine electron-acceptor unit connected by a styryl linker to N,N-diphenylamine peripheral donor(s). Subsequently, influence of the number of donor units and their positions around the pyrimidine central core in relation to fundamental optical properties have been investigated and will be discussed. pyrimidine; chromophore; push-pull
