eng Physico-chemical changes of boron nitride during oxidative dehydrogenation of propane Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has been studied as a promising catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of light alkanes, specifically propane, to produce propylene as a crucial feedstock for the chemical industry. The stability of this system, formation, and changes of the active species were reported in this contribution by means of various characterization. It was shown that the simultaneous presence of oxygen and hydrocarbon is essential for the ODH of propane by h-BN. Although stable activity has been observed for this system the catalyst undergoes plenty of changes including the chemical composition in different depths, new structural phases, surface area, etc. The stable activity regardless of what happens on the catalyst suggests that this reaction might take place mostly in the gas phase and the catalyst probably just activates the precursors. catalysts; oxidative dehydrogenation; propane; boron nitride
