eng Separation of drugs by commercial nanofiltration membranes and its modelling The present work investigates the performance of commercially available polyamide thin-film composite NF membranes (AFC 40 and AFC 80) to remove polluting pharmaceutical drugs namely caffeine, naproxen and paracetamol. The structural features of the NF membranes used were first estimated by water permeability measurements and by retention measurements with aqueous solutions of organic uncharged solutes. In the second part, the effects of various operating conditions, i.e. applied transmembrane pressure, tangential feed flow velocity, and concentration of feed solution, on the retention of solutes by AFC 40 and AFC 80 membranes were evaluated.
