eng Comparison of membranes for diffusion dialysis of spent pickling solutions The continuous diffusion dialysis of model mixture of acids (hydrochloric, nitric and hydrofluoric) and their iron salts whose composition corresponded to those in the real spent pickling solutions was investigated using a counter-current continuous dialyzer. Transport properties of two different anion-exchange membranes (Neosepta-AFN and Fumasep-FAD) were compared. At the constant composition of the solutions, the effect of the volumetric liquid flow rates upon the transport rate was studied. The dialysis process was characterized by the acid recovery yield and the salt rejection coefficient. Both these characteristics were determined from measurements at steady state.
