eng Substituted diiminoisoindoles and their coordination compounds: structures and synthesis While the parent isoindole is a rarely encountered in literature, his derivatives can be often found as resistant pigments such as phthalocyanines1, pharmaceuticals but also in nature as a part of alkaloids2. Series of isoindole-based ligands were prepared by reaction of a substituted lithium amide with dicyanobenzene at low temperature. This process allows to obtain symmetrically but also asymmetrically substituted diiminoisoindoles easily and in a good yield. After hydrolysis, we were able to achieve further substitution by acyl halides or addition reaction with carbodiimides. Prepared ligands were used in coordination chemistry. Their reactivity was examined trough reactions with alkali and alkaline earth metals and also with some metals from 11 to 13 group. Interesting reactivity was disclosed in cases of diiminoisoindoles substituted by acyl halides (Fig. 1). These ligands possess carbonyl group, which allows them to form sixmember metallacycles. Wind range of complex compounds with bi- and mononuclear structure was prepared and characterized. They properties will be further explored and we believe we can find them application also in homogenous catalysis.
