eng Utilization of vegetable oils in the synthesis of latex coating binders Synthetic latexes from emulsion polymerization typically use crude oil-based monomers, raising environmental concerns. This study developed monomers from plant oils like linseed and camelina via transesterification, epoxidation, and acrylation, replacing up to 30 % of petroleum-based monomers. The resulting latexes showed improved water repellence and whitening resistance, offering a sustainable alternative for coatings. These results demonstrate the viability of renewable resources in creating eco-friendly materials. emulsion polymerization; vegetable oils; latex coating binders
