eng Utilizing Trapped Ion Mobility Separation for Enhanced Lipid Coverage in RP-UHPLC/MS Analysis of Biological Samples The key technique for qualitative and quantitative lipidomic analyses is ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (UHPLC/MS), where one of the primarily utilized separation techniques is reversed-phase liquid chromatography [1]. Although this method is highly efficient and results in a significant number of lipid identifications, it often fails to resolve some types of lipid isomers. To overcome this challenge, trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) can be employed. TIMS separates ions on the basis of their mobility in a carrier gas and electric field, providing an additional separation dimension according to the ion collision cross-section (CCS) and molecular conformation. This technique integrates seamlessly with the chromatography and MS detection timeline, adding an extra dimension of separation. The connection of TIMS with UHPLC/MS provides more comprehensive analysis of lipid profiles in biological samples [2]. Ion Mobility; Lipidomics; Mass Spectrometry
